Svoi.city website blocked in russia
Roskomnadzor has blocked the Ukrainian online magazine Svoi.city in the russian federation. This was announced by the website's coordinator Gayane Avakyan.
"We have been blocked in russia! It has finally happened! So we are doing everything right!" Gayane wrote.
On the other hand, Gayane noted, their publication was read by many people in russia and it was where they received truthful information about the war in eastern Ukraine. Since the beginning of the war, the number of users from russia has tripled.
The russian prosecutor general's office approved the decision to block the website on February 24, 2022 – the day of the full-scale russian invasion of Ukraine, – but the first block occurred on March 17.
"They used a block mask – all the pages of the website together with the domain and subdomains are blocked," Gayane Avakyan said in her comment to IMI representative.
The online magazine "Svoi.Sity" tells about the lives of people in eastern Ukraine on both sides of the front line, about the lives of migrants, about Ukrainian refugees abroad. The authors of the magazine write manuals for solving legal problems faced by migrants and residents of the occupied territories.
