"In Zakarpattia, a native of Khust district has been sentenced to seven years in prison for public calls for the creation of an autonomy in the region. The man is currently wanted by the authorities.

This was announced by the Zakarpattia Regional Prosecutor's Office.

The man is accused of encroaching on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine, combined with incitement of nation-based hatred (Part 2 of Article 110 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

According to the investigation, the accused, while outside Ukraine, spread his interview with the russian media through social media. In it, he called for Zakarpattia's separation from the territory of Ukraine and the region becoming an autonomy.

"The accused also shared publications in which he stressed the need to build a separate 'Carpathian Rus,' expressed contempt for Ukraine and Ukrainians, and published articles about 'Ruthenians standing up against Bandera,'" said the prosecutor's office.

The man is currently wanted in Ukraine.
