Police is looking into violent threats to Nikolov

The Kyiv police has begun an investigation into death threats to a journalist. This is reported on the website of the Kyiv National Police HQ.

"While monitoring a social media platform, the police found a post regarding violent threats to a mass media representative. The law enforcers have added the discovered data to the unified Journal of statements and reports," the message reads.

Based on this fact, an investigation is underway, the police said.

As the IMI reported, on January 15 investigative journalist Yuriy Nikolov reported an attempt at intimidation: unknown men tried to break into his apartment on January 14.

In a comment to the IMI Nikolov noted that he had not filed a statement to the police on this matter, but was in contact with the law enforcers. The initiative to look into the details of the incident came from the police.

"I am in contact with them. If there is any news, I will come out and announce it publicly. I'm not trying to hide anything. Now we are deciding what is the better and more appropriate way to go about it," Nikolov said.
