Russian pro-state media report that the journalist Hennadiy Osmak has been detained. The Russian Telegram channel "Mash" was the first to write about this.

According to the Russians, Osmak was detained in the temporarily occupied part of the Kherson oblast.

The post says that Hennadiy Osmak had left for Russia and received a Russian passport at the start of the full-scale invasion.

The Russians say he was detained after being identified as a journalist on charges of "Participating in an illegal armed group".

Hennadiy Osmak was a chief editor at 'Novyi Vizyt" for many years.

Following Russia's full-scale invasion, the media outlet's website went down, and on March 12, 2022, Hennadiy announced that the outlet had closed down.

There has been no contact with Osmak since then.

For some time, the website was down, but in late March 2022, it started posting news about the work of local occupation authorities, and in early April 2022, this very website announced the appointment of the occupation "acting Mayor" of Henichesk, Andrei Klochko.

The website was shut down two weeks later and has been down since then.

Henichesk, Kherson oblast, was occupied by Russian troops on February 24, 2022.
