The Institute of Mass Information representative in Volyn oblast, journalist Maya Holub won the second place in the national contest of journalistic materials on gender.

Her article "Media Stereotypes About Women", written for the project "Media Literacy in Ukraine's Regions" was highly appreciated by the jury in the nomination "Best Material in Online Outlets".

As reported by the NGO Volyn Press Club, 21 out of 90 journalistic works published in January–July 2023 won awards.

In her comment to IMI, Maya Holub said that it was important to report on stereotypes about women that exist in the society in order to eradicate them.

"For a certain period of time, I collected screenshots of stereotypes about women that I saw in the news, then I wrote an article about it, explaining what was wrong about them. The article's topic is important because, unfortunately, stereotypes about women still live in the minds of many people, and some media outlets contribute to this," she said.

The contest took place as part of the project "The Gender-Sensitive Space of Modern Journalism", hosted by the Volyn Press Club in partnership with the Gender Center and the Independent Public Network of Press Clubs with the support of the Media Program in Ukraine (Internews).
